I wanted to get started earlier this year, and the promise of good weather in mid-February was perfect for it. I took a Thursday off and wandered to a familiar place to keep in practice. This is one of the places I plan to return to often. It's close, it's fun and it's a pleasant surprise every time.
After the hike, I drove a few miles upriver to Rush, another of those places that is the outdoor equivalent of vegetable soup and grilled cheese. Sitting by the river, I decided that I had to find a way out onto the river. 2017 was the year of earth, and it became quickly obvious that 2018 was going to add a new element to my newfound outdoor excursions; thus began the year of water.
